Relief/Development

Want to make a lasting difference?

You want to help people. You want to act with intelligent compassion. LifeWind knows how.

LifeWind has over twenty-five years experience empowering holistic transformation around the world. We strengthen local leaders, utilize local resources, and produce sustainable results. We work village-by-village, helping people find solutions to their problems. We are about lasting change, not temporary relief.

Sometimes emergency relief is necessary to save lives. We work with organizations dedicated to that purpose when emergencies occur. But chronic problems need long-term solutions. Giving welfare handouts when there is no emergency just makes chronic poverty worse. Some examples:

  • Used clothing donated by North Americans and Europeans has destroyed textile industries and put store owners out of business in many developing countries.
  • Water wells provided by outside agencies are abandoned by local people who have no sense of ownership or responsibility for them.
  • Food distribution programs extended beyond immediate emergency situations discourage farmers from planting crops.
